Dear MECA Members;
As-salamualaikum. Hope you all are doing well.
You are perhaps aware that MECA EC received a financial commitment of Taka 97,50,000 (Taka ninety seven lacs fifty thousand) only in the last Emergency General Meeting held on 08-04-2017 at The RAOWA Club, Mohakhali DOHS, Dhaka towards procurement of permanent office space for MECA.
Against this, MECA EC was able to collect Taka 82,80,000 (eighty two lacs eighty thousand) only, out of which, Taka 60,00,000 (Taka sixty lacs) only came from Batch 12. Thanks to Batch 12 for tremendous support to finish this project. Rest Taka 11,36,000 (Taka eleven lacs thirty six thousand) only came from ex-cadets, which were not committed, they voluntarily came forward. Total collection, Taka 94,16,000 (Taka ninety four lacs sixteen thousand) only from batches and individual ex-cadets. MECA also en-cashed an FDR with One Bank Limited of Taka 30,00,000 (Taka thirty lacs) only and the funds was engaged in this project.
Procurement and registration of the property in favor MECA is now completed and the faculty is operational now with lucrative modern interior at Apartment B-6 Biswas- Sultan Plaza,79 Arjatpara, Mohakhali,Dhaka- 1206.
But we are still to realize committed funds from few batches. If we consult the attached statement, we will find that out of 48 passed out batches (till EGM in April 2017), only 11 batches and 01 individual ex-cadet came forward with financial commitment towards the office procurement project. We are still to hear from rest 39 batches!!!
It is surely, definitely far below our potential and expectation. We can do lot lot & lot more, if a bigger portion of us come forward even with our minimum, if not all.
Kindly understand, MECA needs fund to run. Office procurement is a big step but only the beginning of bigger dreams. For office, we still have some more steps to walk, such as City Corporation naam jari, Land Office naam jari, transfer names of utility bills in favor of MECA etc. We have to pay staff salary, utility bills, service charges, taxes, auditor fees, finance programs & events, which are substantial.
MECA’s only source of income is membership subscriptions and donations from batches & individual ex-cadets. End of the day, it is our very own alumni association and we should put our judgement, how we want to run it.
While I want to put my sincere thanks and gratitude to the batches and individuals, who already contributed, I humbly request rest of the batches and individual ex-cadets to kindly come forward with open mind, donate towards this project so that we can build a good fund and run our alumni association – MECA smoothly and more effectively.
